Cooling activities are representing a strategic sector to reduce energy consumption: agrofood industries, commercial facilities and hypermarkets (large scale electricity consumption for cooling). More and more refrigerants as such as R 448 is an option to reduce electricity consumption by 20% and in the same time have GWP ratio under 2500. NH3 (R717) and CO2 (R744) or both combined are the best option to achieve better efficiencies and in the same time targetting low GWP at zero level in fact (natural fluids). Mauritius is expected to be a major market for these new solutions (cleaner refrigerants). Project investments including R 448 fluids are eligible. Project investments including R 717 and/or R 744 (natutal fluids) should be assessed according to their profitability and electricity savings. Information on the investment description should be submitted to the Banks (by project investors and/or their engineering companies, associated in the project design end sizing). This last option (natural fluids) is not yet disseminated at a large scale on the market.
The old/previous fluid should be collected and treated adequately to avoid leaks.
