Business Mauritius attended an ILO event themed “Creating a sustainable future of work and a just transition towards blue economy in African Island States”, from 7 to 9 May 2019 in Mahé, Seychelles.

In the framework of its centenary celebrations, the ILO is intensifying its efforts to respond effectively to social justice challenges in a changing world. The objective of the meeting was to share experiences and identify challenges and opportunities for the blue economy sector, and its job creation potential.  Participants were invited to elaborate strategies to tackle future of work challenges and create jobs.  The deliberations included topics of migration, green works and the informal economy. The outcomes of the meeting will be shared at the UN Climate Change Summit in September 2019 and the ILO 14th African Regional Meeting in December 2019.
