World Day Against Child Labour

In the context of the World Day Against Child Labour which is being celebrated on 12 June, the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment and Training is launching a campaign against the employment of children under the age of 16 years.

Section 12 of the Employment Rights Act 2008 provides that “No person shall employ a child for employment or work in any occupation” and “Child” in the Act is defined as meaning “a person under the age of 16”.
